LABIOFAM integrates, as other Research – Development – Production institutions of Cuban biotechnology, not only with other centers of the same sphere but with the Universities, thereby multiplying and expanding its research capacities.

In general, streptomycin and dihydrostreptomycin are active against Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria. Dihydrostreptomycin is highly effective against the following microorganisms: Pasteurella spp, Leptospira spp, Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp, Actinomyces bovis.

Erythromycin is an intermediate-spectrum antibiotic that acts preferentially against Gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus spp and Staphylococcus spp. It has bacteriostatic activity against some Gram-negative bacteria such as Haemophilus spp, Pasteurella multocida and some Rickettsia spp, but may be bactericidal at high doses.

The combination of these antimicrobial agents, streptomycin and penicillin, has strong potentiating effects mainly on Gram-positive bacteria, although it has some effect on Gram-negative bacteria. Both antibiotics are bactericidal against Pasteurella spp, Salmonella spp and Klepsiella spp.

Bacteriostatic or bactericidal, depending on the concentration of Gram-positive cocci and actinomycetes. Penicillin G potassium is rapidly absorbed intramuscularly, reaching maximum blood levels within 30-60 minutes. Combined with penicillin G procaine, which has delayed but prolonged effect, it reaches more durable blood levels.
